Leslie came to TCCA in desperate need of help with a housing situation. She was in the midst of an eviction and soon had to appear in court. After our initial intake interview, she was quickly connected with a case manager.
Leslie and her case manager attended court together and Leslie calmly and spoke at her eviction hearing. Her TCCA case manager had coached her on how to remain calm, matter of fact, and communicate effectively to a judge and courtroom. In part because of this, the court ruled that Leslie could remain in her home with all late fees waived!
Shortly after this victory, Leslie was connected with our Housing and Credit Counseling team who guided her to the Fair Housing Board. There Leslie was able to confirm and chart a course for all actions with her landlord. “I wanted to be sure I was taking the right steps and that I was always doing the best thing possible, for me and for my home.
